Thank you to all those who supported me to be the Member of Parliament for Stevenage in the recent General Election and a huge thank you to all those who worked so hard on the campaign, I am so disappointed not to have had the success that your efforts and your support deserved. It meant so much to me to receive many thoughtful messages of commiseration in the days after the election, I was genuinely touched and heartened by such kindness. Now we must pick ourselves up and begin the fight back!

Over the last few months, I have spoken to thousands of Stevenage people and I will be making sure the issues you raised with me are brought to the attention of our new Member of Parliament and holding him to account to make sure he takes action to tackle them. I will be writing to him to ask him to support us to retain the important projects for the future of Stevenage such as the Bio-Science Park, Building Schools for the Future, Children’s Centres, Decent Homes, Stevenage West, Town Centre Development and the developments at the Lister.
If you want to help Labour in Stevenage, please contact me and if you haven’t joined Labour yet, please do so now and have your say in the election of our new Leader.

Prime Minister Gordon Brown, along with his wife Sarah and the Home Secretary, Alan Johnson visited Stevenage as part of the General Election campaign. Mr Brown visited the Mentoring Basketball Association at The Oval to speak to young people involved in the scheme there before heading to the Oval Community Centre to have a chat to local residents and community volunteers.
